WELEDA POMEGRANATE FIRMING DAY CREAM

new-pomegranate-day-cream-medium

I have just finished this sample sized tube of Weleda Pomegranate Firming Day Cream so thought I had better write my views before I throw out the empty tube and forget how my skin felt after using this. It is no secret to anyone who regularly reads my views that I rate Weleda very highly and admire their ethics and honest approach towards their customers.

This pomegranate range is designed for those in the 40s to 50s age range and until the Evening Primrose range was brought out this was Weleda’s range that catered for the oldest age group. Personally I am happy with both ranges as they are both full of great natural ingredients to help ageing skin.

~~~&&&~~~~~ ABOUT POMEGRANATE ~~~&&&~~~
Pomegranate is an expert in balancing extremes, stimulating and regenerating life and some of the pomegranate trees have been found to be over 200 years old.
Pomegranate seed oil is a powerful anti oxidant and has regenerative properties as it has a high polyphenols content. Pomegranate seed oil helps to revitalise skin cells. Skin appears tighter and smoother and is fresher and moisturised as well.
Weleda say :
From the age of 40 we benefit most from the positive properties of the pomegranate. At this life stage….as we grow older our skin changes – its vitality diminishes, the regeneration processes slow down and hardening tendencies can no longer be automatically counter-balanced overnight.
Pomegranate mediates between the young and mature opposites, allowing them to flow into one another, developing a framework for dynamic and regenerative effects on the individual. So the pomegranate’s seed oil stabilises and relaxes the skin in times of transition, bringing inner and outer beauty into harmony and encouraging us to look towards the future with serenity.”
~~~&&&~~~ MY EXPERIENCE ~~~&&&~~~~

I am bit older than the age range this product is aimed at but I have had a number of these small sample tubes over the years and even bought couple of the full sized ones. I tend to go for the Evening primrose range now though as that range is for the more mature lady which sadly is the age range I fit into.

I do love the smell of this product, which comes from the essential oils in the cream which Weleda describe in this way :

“ “The natural fragrance has been designed to hit a sophisticated note, subtly sensual, feminine and warming. Essential oil of davana lends an exotic, oriental character together with mellow base notes of sandal wood and neroli”.

It is fresh and uplifting yet also really exotic. It is so great that Weleda have made a lovely scent from this, a light EDT which I wear frequently these days.

The cream is a creamy colour and feel quite light on application. It soaks in very fast n leaves my skin feeling matt and not greasy at all at the same time it feels well nourished.

I always apply my day cream after cleaning, toning and applying a good quality natural serum. I eave ths to soak in before applying any make up if I choose to wear any that day.

According to Weleda this day cream has been created to:

  1. Reduces wrinkles and tautens.
    2) Protects from oxidative stress.
    3) Improves elasticity and resilience

I have found it does a great job of making my skin feel nourished and it never feels tight or sensitive and itchy when using this which some products do seem to do. We are lucky in that the area we live is not too heavily polluted with traffic fumes or industrial pollution bt I hope this is helping fight all the nsties in the environmant for me with its antioxidants.

My skin feels tauter and looks fresher but the lines and wrinkles are still there though they don’t seem to look any worse!

I love that it smells so fresh and uplifting as it cheers em up each morning when I apply this.

Apart from the lovely pomegranate oil this is carefully blended with golden millet, argan and macadamia oils which create this lovely light cream to nourishes and regenerate the skin.

This is all natural as I have mentioned but it is also suitable for vegans as all ingredients are plant based. This product has not been tested on animals and has no petrochemicals or GM ingredients and has no filler ingredients or parabens either.

Even though Weleda use all natural ingredients they are quite powerful and they suggest that you do a test on a small area for a few days when using something new. I have not had any issues with any of their products and I have skin that is prone to allergies and eczema but best be on the safe side.

~~~&&&~~~ RECOMMENDD? ~~~&&&~~~
I have found this an excellent day cream and would certainly recommend it to the 40s plus age range. For those in the menopausal age range then the Evening Primrose might be more suitable. There are other ranges for the younger ladies ( and men) too so check out their website.
~~~&&&~~~ MY EXPERIENCE ~~~&&&~~~

Really this is aimed at people slightly younger than I am and the Evening Primrose range is more suited to my age but this is a beautiful smelling oil which makes a lovely massage oil.

I love all Weleda’s body oisl that I have tried as they are all made using no preservatives, parabens or any mineral based ingredients in their products. They do not test on animals or allow any of their ingredients to be tested on them either.

As this is a natural oil it is really absorbed into the skin so that the benefits of the essential oils get down into the part of the skin it needs to work. Mineral oils sit on the outside of the skin and while they might act as a protective layer they don’t get beyond the outside layer so as soon as you wash they protection is removed. With natural oils they are absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin and work even after you have a shower.

This product has absolutely no palm oil or soy-derived raw materials. either and has been dermatologically approved so is not damaging precious forests. It is also 100% natural and suitable for vegans too.

This oil comes in a dark green glass bottle and holds 100 mls. The dark coloured glass helps to keep the contents protected from light damage, keeps the contents uncontaminated too and of course glass is recyclable.

This oil smells lovely. In fact it is so nice that Weleda have now a EDT based on this aroma too. The ingredients that create this wonderful scent are all there for a reason and one of these is to lift the spirits at the same time as it feeds your skin. This lovely rich oil is naturally scented with the fruity notes of orange and davana which is a bit like a mango smell and oriental scent of vanilla which are both sensual and exotic.

I admit I do dilute this oil a bit with sweet almond or jojoba as it makes it go a little further otherwise a bottle would only last me around five massages. I mix half and half so I get around ten massages from a bottle which become more reasonable.

11271

This oil is a combination of organic pomegranate seed oil, jojoba,,sesame seed oil, sunflower seed oil, wheat germ oil, macadamia seed oil, olive oil and millet seed extract, and it is jojoba or sweet almond that I use prior to applying this more expensive oil so I am not really diluting or contaminating it at all.

I also use this after my evening bath while I am still little damp and my skin is warm as I find that it goes further then.

I like this oil as it is specially good for sensitive skins and I am prone to eczema as well as very dry skin so this nourishes my skin as well as helping regenerate the cells and soothes any eczema pronec bits.

You can also add some of this oil to the pomegranate body lotion to make that a bit richer and make this oil go a bit further. You could also add some of this to any all natural unscented body lotion to make it more beneficial and smell good too.

Pomegranate has been proven to help regenerate skin cells so by applying this at night after my bath I am giving it the longest time absorb into my skin over night. It also mean that my body smells great in bed and I can enjoy the aroma as I drift off to sleep.

According to  Weleda from their website ,in tests on people it was found that:
50% Increased cell renewal Tested after 14 days
13% Increased skin firmness Tested after 28 days

~~~~~~~ABOUT WELEDA ~~~~~~
This company was originally founded by Rudolph Steiner in 1921 in Austria as a pharmaceutical company . Weleda’s products are created using the principles of principles of anthroposophic medicine. This is a holistic approach based on products made using ingredients grown in balance and harmony with nature.
“A medical system that complements conventional medicine, anthroposophy takes a holistic approach and uses both conventional and anthroposophic medicinal products……. The therapy method of anthroposophic medicine is based on the balance between four organisational principles: the physical level; life forces level, or vitality; mental level and individual level or ego. The goal of therapy is to restore the necessary equilibrium when these four principles are out of balance.”
Weleda use only natural products and most are organic. They source their products from around the world and pay above fair prices for their ingredients.
They use no preservatives, parabens or any mineral based ingredients in their products. Thy do not test on animals or allow any of their ingredients to be tested on them either.
“Whether it’s through fair trade, biodynamic cultivation or the supportive development of our employees – sustainability is part of our roots.”
They are also committed to using eco friendly packaging which also gets the product to the consumer in the best condition.
~~~~~~ WELEDA AND EVENING PRIMROSE ~~~~

ep1

This is one of Weleda’s newer ranges and includes quite a few products which include: Age Revitalising Concentrate, Age Revitalising Day Cream, Age Revitalising Eye and Lip Cream, Age Revitalising Night Cream, Revitalising Body Wash, Revitalising Hand cream, Revitalising Body lotion and this Body Oil as well as a couple of combined products in gift packs.

~~~~~~ BENEFITS OF EVENING PRIMROSE ~~~~
Evening Primrose is native to America and grows in pretty dry and infertile soil. It has been used by Native Americans for centuries as a tea for skin problems, healing wounds and other ailments.
The oil from evening primrose seeds contains high concentrations of essential linoleic acid and y-linolenic acid. This is something that keeps skin supple and our bodies produce less as we get older. Luckily for us evening primrose seed oil does a great job of protecting the skin against moisture loss, removing rough patches and promoting cell growth and regeneration so is particularly helpful in helping to stimulate the natural defence and restorative processes of mature skin.
~~~~~~ MY VIEWS AND EXPERIENCE USING THIS ~~~~

EN_Evening Primrose_Age Revitalizing_Body Oil_RGB-mediumFirstly this is a natural oil and so is readily absorbed into the skin as opposed to sitting on the skin like petroleum based oils do. This product has absolutely no palm oil or soy-derived raw materials. either and has been dermatologically approved.

This comes in a green coloured glass bottle and holds 100 mls. The coloured glass keeps the contents protected from light damage and glass is recyclable and keeps the contents uncontaminated too.

This is an 100% natural product and suitable for vegans and being Weleda it is not tested on animals anywhere in its production and nor are any ingredients at any time.

This oil smells gorgeous, so good in fact that Weleda have now a EDT based on this aroma too. The ingredients that create this wonderful scent are all there for a reason and one of these is to lift the spirits at the same time as it feeds your skin. This lovely rich oil is naturally scented with cardamom, magnolia, and sandalwood which gives a wonderfully exotic aroma floral and spicy yet still fresh and uplifting.

ep3This oil is for use all over your body wherever you feel it needs nourishing. As it is quit expensive – the 100 ml costs £22.95 – I use a good natural oil to moisturise after my bath then use just a little of this spread thinly after the basic natural unscented oil and that way I don’t need to use so much.

This oil is a combination of organic evening primrose oil, jojoba, wheat-germ oil,sesame seed oil, sunflower seed oil, wheat germ oil, macadamia seed oil, olive oil and millet seed extract, and it is jojoba that I use prior to applying this more expensive oil so I am not really diluting or contaminating it at all.

I like to apply this after my bath while still warm and slightly damp and the oils trap in that moisture. This oil really does scent my skin and so a I get into bed I smell really nice and it helps me relax as I read before going to sleep.

I find applying body oils after a shower or bath when I am still damp makes the best use of the oils, traps the moisture on my skin and the oils spread more easily too.

e p 2This rich body oil can be added to the Weleda body lotion of the same range or the hand cream and that will make both those just that bit richer.

This oil has been created to help increase firmness and elasticity, moisturise, regenerate and reactivate skin’s natural functions. I do find that my skin feels lovely and soft and looks healthy after using this and the smell is a real bonus.

When tested by humans this 70% of those in the test group agreed it provided intensive nourishment (self-assessment after 28 days) and 39% said it increased skin moisture when used for 28 days.

~~~~~~ WHERE TO BUY THIS ~~~~~
Being a Weleda product this can be bought from Weleda’s website or from one of their advisers locally. A site called http://www.dolphinfitness.co.uk has this for £13.95 with free postage – I am off to order some right now ! It is always worth shopping around and I found that just checking the prices on line.
~~~~~~ RECOMMENDED ?~~~~

Yes indeed it is a lovely rich all natural oil with fabulous scent that really does make the skin smell great. I cannot believe I found such a bargain on the website I mentioned and have ordered a couple more from there!

Weleda Birch Body Scrub

Standard

birch-scrub-150ml-large

It is no secret that one of my favourite companies is Weleda. They not only make fantastic 100 % natural products but they also have a very ethical business using only ingredients that are sourced from people and places who are paid above fair prices for high quality, organically grown, natural plant ingredients.

~~~~~~~ ABOUT WELEDA ~~~~~~
~~~~~~~ WELEDA’S PACKAGING ~~~~~~

The packaging won’t win any prizes for luxury gift giving. Weleda are not into unnecessary packing and create the best, most eco friendly packaging that will deliver a high quality product in good condition to the consumer. All their packaging is 100% recyclable.

They are also constantly trying to reduce their carbon footprint and to reduce their energy usage and use as much renewable energy as possible and in 2013 50.7% of their direct energy and 94.3% of the indirect energy used in Weleda factories came from renewable resources.

~~~~~~~ ABOUT MICROBEADS ~~~~~~~
I have written about how bad for the environment microbeads are before but I do feel that this is an important ecological message and worth repeating.
These tiny little beads of plastic are found in a number of brands usually in exfoliants. Surprisingly often high end brans and despite the fact the UK government have promised to phase these out companies have until 217 to remove them and obviously products made outside the UK are not bound by this law so you need to be careful what you buy if you are concerned.
Microbeads can be disguised behind a number of names including, PE, PP, PET,PMMA AND PTFE, all different forms of plastics. I always buy natural based exfoliants that use sugar or salt or crushed seeds as the exfoliator. Weleda in this scrub use tiny beads of natural wax which is unusual and more about that later.IMG_9870[1]
Microbeads are so small that they end up in our waterways and oceans and as they are insoluble and not biodegradable they can cause damage for years . These beads end up being ingested by fish, fish eating birds, sea and river mammals and cause immense damage to the marine environment. Evidence has been found recently that these microbeads have been ingested by hermit crabs, sea cucumbers and others which live deep in the ocean so the impact of these tiny beads is even worse than previously thought .IMG_9874[1]
~~~~~~~~ ABOUT BIRCH BODY SCRUB ~~~~~~

Part of a Russia sauna is to be beaten with birch twigs but thankfully we don’t have to suffer that to get the benefit from Birch as this scrub is made using organic silver birch which contain flavanoids which help to flush out toxins from the body.

Also in this scrub organic rosemary which is a great skin stimulant and also Butcher’s Broom which is great for toning and is also anti inflammatory. Extracts of these are combined with apricot kernel oil which is soothing and moisturising and organic sesame oil which is full of protective anti oxidants.

This scrub exfoliates using micro beads ….. no not those horrible plastic one … these are micro beads of natural wax ! These gentle exfoliating beads are made from pure plant wax using castor oil seeds, carnauba wax from the carnauba palm and Australian bees wax.

As you rub this product into your warm wet skin all the dad skin cells are gently scrubbed off and the outer skin layers have their circulation stimulated but even better all the natural oils and waxes in this moisturise the skin and lave it feeling smooth and moisturised and healthy.

Besides all these benefits the scent in this product is also natural and beneficial. The lovely refreshing citrus essential oils of grapefruit and orange lift the spirits while the woody notes of cypress and cedar wood soothe and calm.

This lovely body scrub is PH balanced and the cleansers are plant based and made from coconut and sugars which are dermatologically tested and safe for sensitive skins. Everything in this product is environmentally safe and biodegradable.IMG_9871[1]

This is a lovely gentle scrub so doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or itchy yt it does keep it looking fresh and healthy.

I absolutely love the smell of this, it is really fresh and uplifting and stays on my skin even after I have dried myself and I always feel glowing and clean after using it. I use this on my body and thighs and the tops of my arms. For my feet I tend to use a pumice based scrub or something made with ground nut or seed shells as I feel they need a bit more scrubbiness than this has.

~~~~~ HOW MUCH FOR HOW MUCH? ~~~~~
This comes in a green upside down tube so it sits on the dispensing end. There is 150 ml in each tube and on the Weleda site it costs £9.95. Allbeauty.com have it for £8.45, Naturismo for £8.96 and iHerb for £7.46 so as always shop around as prices do vary.
~~~~~~~WHERE CAN I BUY THIS? ~~~~~~~

You can buy this from the Weleda website or from their shop in Ilkeston which is in Derbyshire or from other natural beauty or health websites if I want to make up an order to the amount needed for free shipping. Amazon sell number of Weleda products too.

Weleda also have wellness advisers who can sell you products. They will do a party to demonstrate the products and you can ask for specific things such as products for the body or baby products etc as the theme if you want to. They are all very well informed and can advise on the benefits of each product.

birchI also buy some Weleda products from a small health shop in our local town also stocks Weleda products so I have no problem buying any of their products.

~~~~~~ RECOMMENDED? ~~~~~~~~
Yes I would indeed. It is a lovely gentle yet invigorating natural pleasant smelling body scrub. I personally wouldn’t use it on my feet but you may have baby soft feet in which case it would work well.
It is not a lot more expensive than comparable natural scrubs and I don’t find it gets used any quicker than other scrubs.
This is a 100% natural product that is not tested on animals and not harmful to the environment at all and as with all Weleda products everyone involved in creating this has been paid fairly for their contribution so I feel it is a very fair price.
Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Day Cream
Standard
new-wild-rose-day-cream-medium
I am a huge fan of Weleda products and have been lucky enough to be invited to a couple of their Open days in Derbyshire to visit their beautiful organic garden as well as try so many of their products and we always get a nice goodie bag to take home with us too.
~~~~~~~~ ABOUT WELEDA ~~~~~~~

Weleda was started by the Swiss philosopher and educationalist Rudolph Steiner and some others in in 1921. Steiner believed in healing the body using natural products and healing the person not just dealing with the symptoms. It is all about balance, in the body and with the earth. The method of healing Steiner created is known as Anthroposophic Medicine and it aims to stimulate the healing process of the person by bringing mind , body and spirit into balance. Weleda products are also used in homeopathy as well as they are all natural plant based products that contain no preservatives or petroleum based products .

Weleda’s ethics have continued to this day to be working in balance with nature. Thy pay more than fair price to their suppliers and grown a lot of their own ingredients in their organic gardens in Germany, France and here in Derbyshire.

Their products are 100% natural with no added fillers or preservatives or petroleum based oils in them at all.

I could write for pages about their philosophy and ethics but will stop here.

~~~~~~~A BIT ABOUT PACKAGING ~~~~~~~
Weleda don’t make posh packaging. They look functional and practical so they can be overlooked by purchasers of natural and organic beauty and skin care products. They are not sold in an upmarket way so those who like their skin care in fancy packages will probably overlook Weleda as they tend to look practical and functional and to me don’t shout ‘quality’ which I think they are.
They are concerned with the environment and are constantly working on improving their packaging to be more environmentally friendly while at the same time protecting the contents and keeping them fresh.
IMG_9802
~~~~~ WHAT WELEDA SAY ~~~~~~~~

“Effective skin care for your thirties, to protect against the first signs of ageing
Borrow the velvet smoothness of rose petals and maintain the youthful vitality of your skin, for beautiful radiance, every day.”

They call the wild rose “ The untamed beauty with harmony as its strength” So this cream is created to balance the skin specially after the age of 30, when the skin is becoming gradually more demanding and dry, “the strength of our Wild Rose Skin Care range takes effect.”

~~~~~ ABOUT THE WILD ROSE ~~~~~~
Roses have long been associated with beauty, skin care, healing and of course perfume. Rose essential oil is expensive still and that is because it is costly to extract and an amazing three million flowers are needed to produce one litre of rose oil.
Wild roses are better for healing purposes as cultivated ones give out all their vitality while wild ones keep it within according to Weleda. Wild roses usually have a lot more scent too.
Roses are balancing, the rose oil soothes the skin while the aroma harmonises the mind.
wildrose
~~~~ABOUT WILD ROSE SOOTHING DAY CREAM ~~~~

This rose scented day cream is sold in tubes of 30 ml and this will cost you £20.95.The tube sits on the nozzle end and it has a screw top plastic lid. The product comes out really easily and I managed to get all my product out by cutting the tube at the sealed end; I always do this and often get at least six more uses out of any creams by doing this.

~~~~~~~MY EXPERIENCE ~~~~~~~
This is a much lighter cream than the night cream of this range but it smells just as beautiful. I found I quite light and very easily absorbed. It is rather too light for me as my skin is much more mature . The cream is aimed at those of around thirty plus while I am double that now.
I got some free sample tubes in one of my goodie bags and was not going to waste them or even share them as they smell so fabulous. I find these little sample tubes I collect great for when I am going away as they take up so little room and last about a week per tube.
IMG_9804I loved the smell as I applied this onto my face and it felt lovely and cool and uplifting too. Weleda say this will help the skin regenerate and it will help reduce fine lines, dryness and dull skin. It not only made my skin look fresher but also also left it feeling soft and smooth and smelling gently of rose.
The rosy day cream is suitable for vegetarians and is natural and gentle and suitable for sensitive skins. However Weleda do say if you are trying something new with essential oils then sometimes thy can cause a reaction so it is best to do a patch test on sensitive skin just in case. I have not had any allergy or irritation from using this or indeed any other Weleda product but it is always better to be safe than sorry.
I used this for around a month with all the small sample tubes I had and did find it was nice on my skin. I applied it each morning to my face and neck and used it after cleansing and toning my skin first. I left it to be absorbed while having my breakfast then applied make up if I wanted to.
I can’t say I noticed I looked any younger but my skin certainly looked no older and as I always use high quality skin products on my face I think what I have is as good as I will get at this stage. This cream with its rose essential oil is created to help the skin cells regenerate as well as adding moisture,it did help to soften the smaller lines and my skin did feel nice and soft and felt smoother to touch than when using some creams. It wasn’t greasy either, just nice and soft and cool as well as smelling lovely n subtly of natural rose.
~~~~~~ A WHOLE BUNCH OF ROSES ~~~~~IMG_9803

This is not the only Rose based product Weleda make. Thy have an entire Wild rose range all aimed at the thirty plus age range.

This day cream with 30 ml costs £20.95 as does the Smoothing Night Cream,and facial lotion in this range. Th eye cream costs the same but you get just 10 ml of that in a tube and finally there is a face mask which they discontinuing and this was £16.95 and is now £8.45 but after this month will no longer be sold.

~~~~~~~ REOMMENDED ? ~~~~~
Yes I would. Personally I use the more intense range for older people which is the Evening primrose range but this is a lovely light but effective day cream for those showing the first signs of ageing skin.
It is 100% natural and suitable for vegetarians. The packaging is environmentally friendly and nothing sold at Weleda has even been tested on animals at any stage or by any one now or in the past.
Weleda Calendula Toothpaste
Standard
en_calendula_toothpaste_rgb-mediumI first used this product after getting a tube in a goodie bag from a Weleda open day fr bloggers that I was invited to. I have mixed feelings about fluoride in toothpastes and do rather yo yo between them.
My dentist told me I should use a toothpaste with extra fluoride in it as my teeth are not great ad have weak enamel. When my children were very young I lived in Australia and we were encouraged to give our little ones fluoride tablets which I duly did. My daughter’s teeth are fine but my son’s teeth though strong are quite discoloured as a result and he has had to have then sorted as an adult at some expense.
~~~~~~ ABOUT WELEDA AND ANTHROPOSOPHICAL MEDICINE ~~~~~~

Many people know Weleda for their baby creams and body and face creams but they were originally a natural pharmaceutical company and indeed when Rudolph Steiner started the company in Austria in 1921 that was his focus. Weleda’s products are created using the principles of principles of anthroposophic medicine. This is a holistic approach based on products made using ingredients grown in balance and harmony with nature.

“A medical system that complements conventional medicine, anthroposophy takes a holistic approach and uses both conventional and anthroposophic medicinal products……. The therapy method of anthroposophic medicine is based on the balance between four organisational principles: the physical level; life forces level, or vitality; mental level and individual level or ego. The goal of therapy is to restore the necessary equilibrium when these four principles are out of balance.”

~~~~~~~ WELEDA AND PACKAGING ~~~~~~~
Weleda is committed to reducing packaging as much as possible but that has to be balanced with creating packing that gets the product to the consumer in good condition and that keeps it in good condition. They are constantly working on packaging solutions but they aim to create packaging manufactured from sustainable materials and be recyclable once its packaging life is over.
50.7% of their direct energy and 94.3% of the indirect energy used in Weleda factories came from renewable resources in 2013.
This toothpaste comes in a cardboard outer box and inside the tube is metal. Both are in an orange colour to suit the calendula name of the product. The metal tube is okay but quite heavy and sometimes if you squeeze careless ly it can end up crooked and crumpled and has occasionally cracked along a crease which is annoying. Weleda have changed some of their products in tubes to recyclable plastic but not sure if this one is due for a change or not. The plastic is lighter so makes it more eco to transport.
~~~~~~~~~ WELEDA TOOTHPASTES ~~~~~~

Welda have arange of toothpaste but as yet I have only used the Calendula one but as I do like this I think I will try the others in the future. There are for different 75 ml toothpaste which all cost £4.50 per tube. There is the Ratanhia which is root from Peru and has calming myrrh and refreshing essential oils of peppermint and spearmint, with calcium- based cleansers . The next is Salt toothpaste which has sea salt, extracts of ratanhia root, myrrh and chestnut bark as well as oil of peppermint . Next we have Plant gel toothpaste which is their most gentle toothpaste and this has extracts of myrrh and chamomile , silica to gently clean without damaging enamel and peppermint and spearmint essential oils for freshness, and ratanhia root extract . Finay we have the Calendula one I will be reviewing here.

There is also a children’s tooth gel which comes in a 50 ml tub and costs £3.50. This is very gentle and designed for first teeth. Like the adult version this also has extracts of organic calendula flowers , silica and natural flavours of fennel and spearmint. There is nothing harmful so it doesn’t matter if children swallow it and like the other Weleda toothpastes it has no fluoride either.img_72481

~~~~~~MY EXPERIENCE OF WELEDA CALENDULA TOOTHPASTE ~~~~~
I wasn’t at all sure what a calendula based toothpaste would taste like as calendula flowers have an odd sort of taste/fragrance in my view but I need no have worried as this tastes of fennel or licorice so as long as you like that flavour you will find this quite pleasant. I found it odd at first not to have a minty fresh after taste in my mouth but you do get used to it and for people who hate the taste of mint this is a perfect alternative.
When I was living in Australia I use a lot of homeopathic medicines and if you are using these you need to ensure you are using an all natural toothpaste. I really struggled to find any in Australia at the time and eventually found an Aussie brand in a health food store. This toothpaste would be perfect it is free of any peppermint and has a pleasant and fresh-tasting fennel flavour and is 100% natural and indeed suitable for vegans too.
In all Weleda products all ingredients are there to do something useful and beneficial to the body. This calendula toothpaste every ingredient contributes towards fresh breath. The calendula is anti-inflammatory and helps to soothe sensitive gums. The calcium mineral provides the scrubbing ingredient and is gently abrasive while the natural essential fennel oil ha a nice fresh, pleasant licorice like taste.
The toothpaste is a lot less abrasive than most high street brands and certainly doesn’t tingle in your mouth like some minty fresh ones do. It feels creamier on the teeth and doesn’t froth up like most commercial brands. I find that when using a Colgate toothpaste for example my mouth is so full of froth that I end up feeling like I have a mouth full of suds!
I use an electric toothbrush and find that this toothpaste is great when using that but with a normal toothbrush I do kind of feel that I need to brush a bit more but maybe that is because I have used commercial brands for many years so I was used to a more abrasive tooth brushing experince.img_72491
This has been certified as natural dental care and is also free of sugar, artificial sweeteners, surfactants, synthetic preservatives, flavours, colourants, or raw materials derived from mineral oils.
I clean my teeth at night last thing before bed and after my breakfast every day but also after lunch if I feel like my teeth are feeling furry or my mouth tastes not very fresh. Weleda say use this regularly to avoid plaque build up and helps to keep gums healthy and your mouth and breath fresh .
The actual paste is not white but a more cream coloured thicker paste than most toothpastes. I like the flavour and the fact that it doesn’t fill my mouth with froth. It does kind of tingle in my mouth in the same way as some tooth and gum numbing powders and gels do but very subtly.
Although this is a bit more expensive that many brands of toothpaste as it is an all natural product from a company with high ethical standards that does not test on animals and pays its supplies fairly I am happy to pay for this product.
~~~~~~~~ WHERE THIS CAN BE BOUGHT ~~~~~~~

I usually buy mine either from the Weleda website or from their shop in Ilkeston which is in Derbyshire or from other natural beauty or heath websites if I want to make up an order to the amount needed for free shipping.

Weleda also have wellness advisers who can sell you products. They will do a party to demonstrate the products and you can ask for specific things such as products for the body or baby products etc as the theme if you want to. They are all very well informed and can advise on the benefits of each product. My step daughter has a friend who is an adviser and I also order from her or a small health shop in our local town also stocks Weleda products so I have no problem buying any of their products.

~~~~~~ RECOMMENDED? ~~~~~~~~
Yes I would indeed. It is pleasant tasting ( provided you like fennel) and is effective to use leaving my mouth feeling tingly fresh and clean. It is a bit more expensive but I don’t find it gets used any quicker than other toothpastes so for the fact it is 100% natural and everyone involved in creating this has been paid fairly for their contribution I feel the price is fair.
Weleda White Mallow Nappy Change Cream
Standard
It may seem strange to have this on my beauty blog but Weleda make such fantastic products and this can also be used on chapped lips and any sensitive dry skin as wll as on baby!
en_nappy_cream_white_mallow_rgb-mediumI am fortunate and have connection with someone at Weleda who sends me samples of their lovely products and invites e to visit Weleda events from time to time in return for sharing my experience on my blog . When my latest grandson was born my lovely contact sent me samples of Weleda baby products to use on him.
$$$$$$$ —- ABOUT BABY WELEDA —-$$$$$$$$
img_7167Weleda always use 100% natural ingredients and their baby products are no exception. They use the gentlest of ingredients, no fragrance and no additives at all so they are suitable for the most delicate of baby’s skins. They have two baby ranges this White Mallow one and the Calendula one and they say this White Mallow one is for the most sensitive so suitable to use from birth.
$$$$$$$ —- ABOUT WHITE MALLOW’S BENEFITS —-$$$$$$$$
The Greek name for this plant is Althaea which means ‘curing’ and has been used as a healing plant in ancient times in China, Syria, Egypt and Greece.mallow
The flowers are pale creamy white and the roots are packed full of a kind of gel which is what is used in the products. This is has calming , emollient, protective and moisturising qualities so is perfect for babies’ skin.
The white mallow in this cream helps the skin hold its moisture and stimulates the skin to develop its own protective layers.
$$$$$$$ —-THE RANGE AND PRICES —-$$$$$$$$
In the White Mallow baby range there are three products all packed in the same colour scheme of pale white and subtle pink.
img_7174There is a bottle of White Mallow Body Lotion which holds 200ml and costs £9.95. The White Mallow Face Cream comes in a tube of 50ml for £9.95 which is not only for babies as this is perfect for anyone with super sensitive skin and finally this nappy cream which come in a 50 ml tube and costs £7.95.
Personally I think the prices are very reasonable considering that these are 100% natural organic products suitable for vegetarians – not vegans because of the organic beeswax in this.
$$$$$$$ —- A BIT ABOUT WELEDA AND PACKAGING —-$$$$$$$$
Weleda work together with the environment and their raw ingredient providers to create products from ingredients that do not harm the environment so all their ingredients are img_7173natural and organic.
They are also constantly looking to improve their packaging to make it not only user friendly but environmentally so as well. They have to balance the packaging between being environmentally friendly and packing that keeps the contents fresh and easy to use.
This comes in an outer cardboard box which is made from recycled or sustainable cardboard and the actual tube is a metal one like a toothpaste tube which is recyclable. Weleda are gradually looking to change the metal and glass packs to a recyclable plastic which is lighter so more eco to transport and also I find the plastic tubes easier to get the contents out and I cut mine with scissors to get the last bits of the product out in the end.
$$$$$$$ —- ABOUT WHITE MALLOW NAPPY CREAM —-$$$$$$$$
img_7176This lovely gentle nappy cream is a thick white cream and it is fragrance free but the dominant smell to me is of the zinc in the cream. This cream not only has zinc and white mallow but also has the benefits of pansy, which is soothing and healing, and also organic beeswax, coconut oil and sesame oil to nourish and moisturise the skin intensively.
Weleda say that : “Even for neurodermitic and acutely sensitive baby skin, the irritation-free ingredients are highly suitable.”
$$$$$$$ —-OUR EXPERIENCE —-$$$$$$$$
We have used this or the calendula nappy cream on both my grandsons since birth as they are bot prone to eczema and have very sensitive skins. One grandson is just two and the other just six months old and neither have suffered from nappy rash for any length of time. They have both had rd bottoms at times because of teething , vaccination reaction or having eaten something but it has very quickly righted itself by using thee nappy creams.
We are very careful to change nappies as soon as we can and always use sensitive wipes to thoroughly clean the nappy area before drying then applying this cream generously over img_7175all the nappy area.
We also use this on my older grandson’s cheeks as he does suffer from eczema there , especially in winter and it seems to help his cheeks to keep from getting really dry and sore. They still look quite red at times but at least they are not too dry and itchy for him.
Other places where eczema seems to plague them is behind their knees and so after any bath time where we use no soap and natural products with no added nasties specially for babies we then dry them off really well and apply this cream in all those eczema prone areas as well the nappy area before dressing them in cotton clothes washed in sensitive washing powder .
According to user feedback studies:
“95% said the skin was intensively cared for -Parents’ assessment after 28 days
95% said that this soothes the skin -Parents’ assessment after 28 days”
$$$$$$$ —-AND MORE REASSURANCE —-$$$$$$$$
Weleda has won numerous awards from many natural beauty and health sites over the years and has been a health or pharmaceutical company since 1921 and is a well respected company making natural health and skin car products. If you visit their factory in Derbyshire there are o many awards on the wall to see.
Weleda products have been inspected by independent certification companies and the non-profit organisation NaTrue and the first Weleda products, featuring the NaTrue label came on the market in the spring of 2009.
$$$$$$$ —- RECOMMENDED? —-$$$$$$$$
Yes I certainly would and I think this would make very useful and thoughtful gift for any new mum and is going to be on my gift giving list for new Mum’s in future as baby’s skin is so delicate it is not worth risking damaging it and new Mum’s get so many baby grows it would be nice to have something not only useful but something that may save both Mum and baby sleepless nights.
My grandson’s both recommend this nappy cream as neither have suffered any bad nappy rash at all and any redness is soon soothed with this cream.
WELEDA POMEGRANATE FIRMING NIGHT CREAM
Standard
en_pomegranate_night-cream_rgb-medium
I think it is no secret to anyone who regularly reads my reviews that Weleda is a brand I rate very highly as they are an eco friendly, all natural brand made by a company that is honest and with employees that are friendly and helpful.
~~~~~~ ABOUT WELEDA THE COMPANY ~~~~~~

Weleda was started by Rudolph Steiner way back in 1921 in Austria as a pharmaceutical laboratory, with its own medicinal plant garden. Today Weleda is a world-leading manufacturer of holistic natural cosmetics as well as pharmaceuticals for anthroposophical therapy.

They make 100% natural products using as much organic ingredients as possible and add nothing nasty to any of their products.

They treat their producers with respect and pay fair prices for their ingredients.social

~~~~~~~~PACKAGING AT WELEDA ~~~~~~
z1
Packaging has to be a compromise on being eco friendly and how to keep the contents of each product fresh and in top condition..
They have also been changing from the recyclable glass bottles to eco friendly recyclable plastic as it is lighter so better for the earth as less fuel is used to transport the products.
Packaging is a work in progress and they change for the better when a better option comes up.
This product comes in a recyclable cardboard box in the deep red coolour of the pomegranate range. Inside the box is the product packed in a recyclable upside down plastic tube so it sits on the lid and the contents are always down the right end to come out.
The tube allows you to get most of the cream out but I always cut my tubes at the end and get at least three more day from what is still in the tube!
~~~~~~~~ ABOUT POMEGRANATE ~~~~~~

Pomegranate is an expert in balancing extremes, stimulating and regenerating life and some of the pomegranate trees have been found to be over 200 years old.

Pomegranate seed oil is a powerful anti oxidant and has regenerative properties as it has a high polyphenols content. Pomegranate seed oil helps to revitalise skin cells. Skin appears tighter and smoother and is fresher and moisturised as well.
Weleda say :
“From the age of 40 we benefit most from the positive properties of the pomegranate. At this life stage….as we grow older our skin changes – its vitality diminishes, the regeneration processes slow down and hardening tendencies can no longer be automatically counter-balanced overnight.
Pomegranate mediates between the young and mature opposites, allowing them to flow into one another, developing a framework for dynamic and regenerative effects on the individual. So the pomegranate’s seed oil stabilises and relaxes the skin in times of transition, bringing inner and outer beauty into harmony and encouraging us to look towards the future with serenity.”pomegranate

~~~~~WHEE TO BUY AND HOW MUCH? ~~~~~~
You can buy this from amazon, Weleda on line or from their shop in Derbyshire and a number of other sits on line. You can also buy from one of Weleda’s Well being advisors around the country.
You get 30 ml of this night moisturiser for £24.95 which for an 100% naturl product is actually a very decent price.
~~~~~~ MY EXPERIENCE ~~~~~~~

This range is actually created for someone younger than I am but the Evening Primrose range is a more recent addition and I had this before I had the Evening Primrose range available. I do still like this range and use it from time to time as it has such a lovely fresh aroma and it is a great moisturiser.

The contents of this tube are a white or pale cream which is a reasonably thick moisturiser and quite rich. It is a night moisturiser so a richer version of the day moisturiser in the range.

I always apply mine after cleansing and toning. I then apply my serum and once that is dry I apply my moisturiser. Weleda recommend that use you the pomegranate serum but any good all natural serum will work I am sure as I use a different on. I find this one spreads easily onto my skin without any puling at all and is absorbed quickly into my skin. It almost melts into my skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth and really nicely moisturised without leaving a greasy feel or tacky feel on my skin.

I like the smell as it is quite fresh but not too overpowering. It feels nice when applied to my skin, sort of cool and slightly tightening and sinks in pretty quickly into my skin. Initially I though I should apply more but I have been told that I need only apply what my skin will readily absorb so I was happy with that.

Apart from the lovely pomegranate oil this also has borage seed and argan oils. These not only moisturise your skin but also help “to stimulate cell growth, reduce wrinkles and improve skin bounce and tone. Awake to newly fresh and radiant skin, smoother, softer and as young as you feel.”night-cream

This is all natural as I have mentioned but it is also suitable for vegans as all ingredients are plant based. This product has not been tested on animals and has no petrochemicals or GM ingredients and has no filler ingredients either.

By using this at night it gives the skin a chance to rejuvenate while relaxed and away from the stresses of daily life.

This cream won the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) award in 2012 so has been found great by a number of women who know about these things.

In the morning my skin looks healthy and feels soft and not at all tired and grey looking.

Weleda use only natural ingredients and absolutely no petroleum based products or parabens etc. this product is actually suitable for vegans as well.

This night cream has been dermalogically tested and they found that it reduced the appearance of wrinkles, improved elasticity and actually encouraged skin regeneration. Reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

“Dermatological test shown that after 28 days of use depth of wrinkles reduced by 35%” According to Weleda website.

I did honestly find my skin looked fresher and the lines less obvious after using this for some time.

Even though Weleda use all natural ingredients they are quite powerful and they suggest that you do a test on a small area for a few days when using something new. I have not had any issues with any of their products and I have skin that is prone to allergies and eczema but best be on the safe side.

~~~~~~~ RECOMMENDED ~~~~~~
Yes I would certainly recommend this especially if you are in your forties as this has been specially created for this time in a person’s life when their skin is beginning to need bit more help as this is a great moisturiser which helps the skin rebuild itself.
Weleda Evening Primrose Body Lotion
Standard
evening_primroseIt is now pretty well known that evening primrose oil helps ladies cope with menopause symptoms better and that it is also an anti ageing ingredient as many other companies also use Evening Primrose oil in their products.
Weleda uses plants that balance the body’s needs. It is quite complicated to explain but basically we are like upside down plants so roots tend to aid the head and issues there while flowers and stems and leaves assist other parts of the body. It is more complex than that but suffice to say you don’t need to understand the theory completely to make use of the products and get the benefits from them.
Weleda explain all the benefits very well on their website and put this very well so I will quote them.box
Evening Primrose grows on dry rough soil and flowers at night into the dawn “In her growth and blossoming, the evening primrose connects the old day with the new.”
Native Americans use it as a nutritional and medicinal plant as a tea, in hot water and to heal wounds, skin problems and other ailments.
“The oil from evening primrose seeds contains high concentrations of essential linoleic acid and y-linolenic acid, which our body produces for itself less and less with increasing age. Both fatty acids play a considerable role in the epidermis and are absolutely essential for formation of the skin barrier. Evening primrose seed oil protects the skin against moisture loss, removes rough patches and promotes cell growth and regeneration.”
Evening primrose works with women going through menopause by offering “ mature skin, which can tend to dryness, substances and impulses which stimulate the metabolism and support the development of unique, individual radiance.”bottle
I do love the Evening primrose range as it smells so beautiful.
This comes in a recyclable plastic bottle and is the same deep purple colour on the label as all the range of Evening primrose products.
It costs £21.95 for 200 ml so it isn’t the cheapest body lotion around but it does compare favourably with other all natural body lotions I have bought.
The actual body lotion is a white coloured lotion, not too thick, a bit like pouring cream consistency but I find that a little does go a long way as it spreads easily and is very quickly absorbed into my skin and instantly I feels smoother and softer to touch.
Once my skin has absorbed the lotion it not only feels soft and smooth to touch but also feels
comfortable and nourished . I have very sensitive skin prone to allergies, itches and rashes and this has never caused it to become irritated and has in fact calmed it when feeling dry and itchy.img_6965
It smells gorgeous, so good that Weleda have in fact made it into an EDT. It is fresh and floral but not in any cloying or heavy. The scent stays on my skin for hours and I often find myself sniffing my arms to enjoy the scent during the day. I am not sure that Evening primrose has a scent but I think that the scent comes from the precious fragrance of cardamom, magnolia and sandalwood. All of which I love an I always know I will like a perfume that has those aromas in them. Cardamon has to be one of the most evocative scents I think.
The Evening primrose oil has been blended with the really moisturising shea butter and olive oil. There are no parabens or sulfates in this it is 100% natural and vegan friendly too.
I was advised to give the bottle a good shake before each use as the contents settle a bit. I always apply my body lotion after my evening bath. This is my little luxury as I use my own home made bath salts or just essential oils and have a lovely relaxing soak before I get dry and apply my lotions and potions. My husband kindly applies my lotion to my back as my skin gets very dry and then I do the rest while he enjoys his bath.img_6966
This lotion not only really soaks in and nourishes my skin but also the scent makes the whole bedroom and my bed smell lovely too and I slip off to sleep beautifully relaxed, smelling great and y skin is moisturised and the lotion works its wonders overnight.
I can’t say I look years younger but my skin isn’t bad for my age and it feels lovely and soft and looks healthy and not crepey and wrinkled or soft an saggy.
I am very happy with this lotion and think this is my favourite of the body lotions but as they are all lovely it is hard to choose.
Weleda’s Mindfulness Colouring Book
Standard
weleda-colouring-pack-1
This may seem an odd post for my beauty blog and I did consider putting it on my book blog. In fact I may put it on there as well. This colouring in book is designed to create a calm mind and being calm and in control helps you maintain your looks as when you are stressed it shows on your face.
weleda-colouring-pack-9
I was recently invited to the Press release of this beautiful colouring book but sadly I was not able to go however my lovely friend at Weleda sent me the Colouring book along with one of their new all natural perfumes, a body scrubber and a tube of Weleda’ lovely rose shower cream.
weleda-colouring-pack-4
Weleda’s products are all created with some benefit to the mind and body as well as just being great all natural products. The colouring book has been designed especially for Weleda by the very talented artist, Lizzie Hobbs, a specialist in pattern-based art, originally from Derbyshire.
weleda-colouring-pack-3
The idea behind this colouring book is to allow the person colouring to be able to take time out of the everyday rush and pressure and to be able to relax and just be in the moment. Colouring in is now very much the ‘in’ thing for relaxing but Weleda’s founder Rudolph Steiner was advocating mindfulness and relaxation many years before this. He was a man ahead of his time in many ways.
weleda-colouring-pack-2
Steiner wrote in 1904 : “The tranquillity of the moments set apart will also affect everyday existence. In his whole being he will grow calmer; he will attain firm assurance in all his actions, and cease to be put out of countenance by all manner of incidents.”
weleda-colouring-pack-7
LIZZIE HOBBS
Lizzie Hobbs is inspired by designs found in Asia and the Middle East and she graduated in South Asian Studies and Hindi from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Her designs in this beautiful colouring book are inspired by her love of Asian designs which she has used to inspire the different images and patterns based on some of Weleda’s most used ingredients. This colouring book is a limited edition created for Weleda.
weleda-colouring-pack-5
The book has twelve different images to colour and beside each image is a coloured page with a photo of the ingredient or inspired by the ingredient and a short piece of text about that ingredient and its benefits. The book also has a very interesting and informative editorial about Weleda’s organic and fair trade farming projects around the world as well as beautiful photographs – argan from Morocco, ratanhia from Peru, rose from Turkey to name a few.
weleda-colouring-pack-6
This means that there is a page for each month, you can colour a small part of each design and by the end of the month have it compete Should you choose you could sit and do a whole page in one sitting but some are quite intricate and you will get the same benefit spending a short time each day as you would with a long session a few days in a month or even a good long session. The nice thing is the choice is yours to use as suits your time and mindfulness needs.
The colouring book will form part of a unique Christmas gift with a rainbow of Weleda’s fragrant and relaxing body washes – one to match your every mood. The boxed set will be available from October.
weleda-colouring-pack-10
I looked through the book and decided to colour the design based on bees and honey as I love honey and have been enjoying some of my honey bought from the lovely bee keeper who keeps his bees at Weleda who sold us some of his honey at the Weleda Insight Day.
I am going to do one page each month and spend around ten to fifteen minutes a day colouring as my time of relaxation after my pilates session to complete the relaxation and mindfulness time.
