WHISH LAVENDER BODY BUTTER

Standard

body_butter_lavender01

This is one of three Whish body butter mini tubes I have received in one of my beauty boxes during the last year or so. I have stopped all my subscriptions as I have so many products to use and feel I should reduce my stash before treating myself to yet more.

~*~*~*~* ABOUT WHISH ~*~*~*~*~

I knew absolutely nothing about Whish before I got these little tubes and had never seen them anywhere in shops or on line. They are an America company with good ethics it seems

Jesse Werner had very sensitive skin that came out in a rash from all products he tried so he set about trying to find one that would not cause this problem. One day he came across a rich European cream free of harsh chemicals that worked for him. His wife used it one day and loved how it felt but was less keen on the smell. Jesse then set about trying to find one for her.

He began to research this issue and found that most bath and beauty products sold were full of chemicals. He decided to make his own and from this beginning Whish as born.

th (1)~*~*~*~*~ ETHICS AND MORALS ~*~*~*~*~

They do not test on animal and they use all natural ingredients with no added sulphates, parabens, DEA, TEA, petrochemcals or phthalates and all the testing is done on willing human volunteers. Their packing and ingredients are earth friendly, many ingredients organic and they are leaping bunny certified.

~*~*~*~*~ ABOUT THIS BODY BUTTER ~*~*~*~*~

This body butter comes in a cylindrical container in the full sized version which holds 150 ml. My tube is a small upside down one which means the lid is at the end the contents are squeezed out from. My tube held 22 ml and is the same pretty lilac o lavender colour as the full size container.

This body butter is part of the Three Whishes collection of body butters which include these varieties:

As well as the lavender butter that I have sampled, this butter is available in the following scents/fragrances:
Pomegranate, Lemongrass, Almond, Coconut and Blueberry. They also have limited edition fragrances which include Acai and grapefruit, Blue Agave and Perfectly Plain but there may be others a different times.

~*~*~*~*~ WHAT WHISH SAY ~*~*~*~*~*~

“ For amazingly moisturized skin, we’ve created a truly indulgent body cream with a unique triple antioxidant based formula. This fully loaded lotion both softens and soothes the skin while also helping to replenish and firm. Such sweet softness.”

~*~*~*~*~ WHAT IS IN THIS BODY BUTTER ? ~*~*~*~*~*~IMG_2910[1]

All the Three Whishes body butters contain Organic Aloe, Organic Raspberry Butter, and Organic Shea Butter. They are great for repairing and rejuvenating antioxidant ingredients.

The ingredients that moisturise in this are :
Organic Aloe: which is a gentle and soothing, natural antiseptic with anti-bacterial properties, anti-inflammatory, and moisturising properties.

Organic Shea Butter which is a wonderful natural moisturiser with a high content of non-saponifiable fats which are by far the best natural skin moisturisers. It is also high in anti-oxidants.

Organic Raspberry Butter which is high in anti-oxidants which attack free radicals and is also a good moisturiser.

As well as these lovely natural moisturising ingredients this also has Organic Rice Bran Oil which is very high in tocotrienols; a super anti-oxidant that they believe is 30 times more powerful than vitamin E. Some studies have been said to show help for skin cancer and improve sun screen efficiency.

Finally this also has a great firming ingredient Organic Seaweed Extract: which is full of firming peptides and anti-oxidants.

IMG_2911[1]~*~*~*~*~ WHERE TO BUY AND HOW MUCH ? ~*~*~*~**~

As I said mine came in beauty boxes so I had to do a little hunting around. From Amazon the full sized product can be bought for £13.70 which seems good value until you add the £6.12 delivery price. Birch box have got some Whish products but not this one but the lemongrass and pomegranate ones are £8.35 plus postage while th almond on s £1670 also plus postage. The Whish site is American so prices are in US$ and the body butters are all $18 but postage will be high coming from the States.

~*~*~*~*~*~ MY VIEWS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I did love the smell of this it was sweetly lavender rather than herby lavender but not in any sickly or ‘old lady’ way at all. It is a pleasant calming fragrance and one I loved to apply after my evening bath and it soaked into my skin easily and left it smelling great.

I found the body butter no where as thick as a Body Shop butter, more like a rich lotion in texture. Because it is all natural it kind of melts into your skin and really soaks in leaving my skin feeling well nourished and yet not feeling sticky, greasy or slippery at all.

I have very sensitive skin so have to be careful what I apply and this has not caused me any itchiness at all nor did I develop any rashes as sometimes happens.th

I found this was very effective even on my dry skin areas such as my knees and elbows as well as making my skin on my legs look less dry and parched.

I like this body butter but would I pay £13.70 plus £6.12 for it? The answer is no as I can get other nice natural body lotions that are equally good for less. I might be tempted with the Birchbox price though!

Neal’sYard Garden Mint and Bergamot hand cream

Standard

IMG_0148[1]Last year magazines were quite generous with their freebies and despite not being a fan of magazine I bought several just in order to get the free gift. I always looked at the price of the magazine and if that was an amount I would be happy to pay to get the “free” gift then I would buy it otherwise not.
I liked this hand creams much I bought four of the magazines which I then gave away but it meant this hand cream was actually not a bad price. These tubes were a good 50 ml size and this size sells for around £19 so you can see why I bought several of the magazines.

There were three scents of hand cream to choose on the magazines this one, a rose scented one and a geranium and orange one. So I chose two of each and abandoned the magazines at various places such as doctor’s surgeries, hair dressers and hospital waiting rooms as I was passing them or visiting.

~~~&&&~~~ ABOUT NEALS’S YARD ~~~&&&~~~
I have only ever seen Neal’s Yard products in Debenhams or specific high end shops or on line and first came across them in beauty boxes.
Neal’s yard make natural organic health and beauty products and thy started in Covent Garden in 1981 so are a British company.
They state that : “ Our vision was to bring the expertise of the apothecary and our holistic approach to health and beauty to people and communities.” Thirty years ago they were one of a few companies making natural products free from chemical nasties and things like parabens. These days there are so many more companies making natural beauty products so we are lucky to have much more choice.
Neals’ Yard have won many awards over the years for their different products and are much respected in the natural beauty business.
Their products are packaged in simple tubes or old fashioned apothecary bottles and like Weleda their packaging is functional and ethical.
~~~&&&~~~ ETHICS ~~~&&&~~~

Neal’s Yard have very strong ethics and are not only against animals testing in any part of their products, they also believe in fair trade, organic farming, eco packaging, recycling, their factory is an eco building. They have collected a number of accreditation’s logos which cover everything from organic certification to sustainable wild-harvesting, fair trade, packaging from managed forestry, ethical business practice, carbon neutrality, vegetarian status and their stance against animal cruelty .
Compared to other high end companies selling similar products such as L’Occitane Neal’s yard are much more honest about their ethics and like Weleda they are ethical from the start to the finish of their products.

~~~&&&~~~ NEAL’S YARD HAND CREAMS ~th~~&&&~~~
This is one of a number of hand creams made by the company that sell in 50 ml tubes for £10. Three of the varieties I mentioned before but they also have a Melissa one, and some Bee lovely ones plus some had lotions and hand washes too.
All made with natural ingredients and they do smell gorgeous strong and yet natural not chemical and synthetic at all.
~~~&&&~~~ MY EXPERIENCE ~~~&&&~~~

I do love the smell of this one. It doesn’t really smell noticeably of either of the two main ingredients independently but somehow it has a lovely strong citrus aroma which is from the bergamot with a freshness that must come from the mint. It has a strong aroma, herby and not sweet and it really lasts on my hands for ages between hand washes.
It is a white colour quite thick cream but I find it goes in quite quickly into my dry hands. I only use the smallest amount as it is naturally rich and full of natural oils and butters to really nourish the skin.

This has glycerine for softening the hands, soya oil, sweet almond oil beeswax aloe vera, sunflower oil , Litsea cubeba fruit oil, all nourishing oils while the Niaouli leaf oil ( a kind of tea tree),Lemon peel oil, Bergamot oil Palmarosa herb oil, Vetiver oil, Garden mint oil all have medicinal benefits such as analgesic, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, anti bacterial and so on as well as adding to the wonderful aromatic scent of this hand cream.
I find that by using just around a cm of this cream squeezed out onto my hands and then massaged in leaves them feeling much softer , not greasy and smelling lovely. If I have been gardening or doing lots of house cleaning them I use around an inch ‘snake’ from the tube and spend a little longer massaging it in. I then do nothing for around ten minutes and this gives the cream a good chance to absorb and not get rubbed off onto anything I touch.

IMG_0149[1]

After that my hands feel much less dry and look better too, a better colour and the skin doesn’t look or feel parched. Sometimes I spend time giving my cuticles a good massage with this and it does seem to keep them softer so that they are easier to push back.

~~~&&&~~~ BUYING THIS ~~~&&&~~~
You can buy this directly from Neal’s Yard or from some High end Department stores like John Lewis and even M&S. You can also buy it from Amazon but they charge £14.95 where Neal’s yard only charge £10.
~~~&&&~~~&&& RECOMMENDED? ~~~&&&~~~

Yes indeed I would. I would happily buy this at full £10 price and wish I had bought more of the magazines at the time as I am now on my last tube. This s a high quality fair priced hand cream full of natural oils and great essential oils for extra benefits as well as creating that wonderful citrus, herby ,hint of sweet smell that is a really uplifting smell. The hand cream is beautifully rich and healing leaving my hands feeling nourished and soft but not greasy at all.
I really hope they do anther magazine promotion as I will buy the entire shelf !

GLKi-Organics-Baby-Bubble-Bath-200ml-0-1

The scent is from the natural ingredients and is a fresh, fruity aroma and truly lovely.

I prefer to use natural products on my skin as it is the largest organ in our body and does absorb all put on it including chemicals. This means that using lotions and oils that contain Paraffinum, Mineral oil or Petroleum Gel can clog the skins pores and stop the skin breathing as well as unbalancing the natural PH of the skin.

This is a really gorgeous lotion for hand and body and is a reasonable price for an all natural product I think.

99% natural ingredients
98% vegetable ingredients from organic farming
47% of total ingredients organic
Smells divine
Moisturises well

My FeelUnique 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar

Standard

advent-calendarFeelunique Magic of Beauty Calendar

I was lucky enough to win this wonderful 12 Days of Christmas Advent calendar from Beautyontrial and thought I would share my experience with you.

1On the First Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me …..
Today my door number 1 opened to reveal 50 ml Roger & Gallet shower cream in a fleur de figuier scent.
This is a lovely sweet fruity smelling creamy shower product. It is a white colour creamy texture that dos lather up when applied with a bath sponge or scrubby thing. My skin smelled fresh and the scent did linger subtly on my skin after drying. My skin feels soft, clean and not at all tight or dried out.
This is a sulfate and soap free product that has shea butter to moisturise the skin as well. All their products are made with up to 95% natural ingredients and 100% distilled precious essences with beneficial properties.

************************************************

On the Second Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me …….
Day two door presented me with a Decleor Hydra Floral medium multi protection BB cream with SPF 15. The tube holds 10 ml but a full sized tube is 40 ml and costs around £20 so this is good amount to try it out.
Luckily the colour matched my skin tone perfectly and gave a good balance coverage. I applied this after cleansing, toning and moisturising and it spread easily and stayed put all day long after I applied a little loose powder.2

It smells gorgeous, sweetly floral and makes my skin smell lovely. I can smell it for a while on my face but after a short time it does fade. I like the coverage and also like the fact you get sun protection of SPF15 which all helps to keep those damaging rays away.
It has five benefits: 1. Moisturises skin for 24 hours, 2. Illuminates and evens out the complexion
3. Refines the skin’s texture and corrects blemishes, 4. Contains SPF15 to protect against UVA/UVB rays and 5. Protects against pollution and environmental factors .

************************************************

On the Third Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

Door three’s offering was a 50 ml Coconut Oil Body lotion from Palmer’s. This has no 3sulfates, phthalates mineral oils, gluten, parabens or dyes.

This is a lovely creamy coconut smelling body lotion that makes my skin feels lovely soft, smooth and well misturised. It says it keeps skin moisturised for 24 hours and I would say that is true as my legs still look moisturised and feel soft the next day after I have applied this in the evening after my bath.

************************************************

On the Fourth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……

Behind door four was a hair product from Percy & Reed. This was a tube holding 30 ml of Perfecting Wonder balm which is a lovely leave in balm, conditioner that helps to make your hair style more easily , smooth it and also condition it. The full sized product holds 75 ml and costs £18.

4The product looks a bit cloudy but colourless like some face serums but it is the consistency of a lotion. It smells lovely fresh and sightly floral so make my hair smell nice too.

It is not sticky or tacky at all and my hair combs through still and it does feel as though there is only conditioner in my hair and not heavy at all. According to the company it will add moisture, shine, smoothness, definition, softness, light hold, high humidity protection and manageability to your hair and I am certainly happy with mine.

************************************************

On the Fifth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……

5Opening door five and I saw a neat little glass jar with screw top lid. This was tricky to get out and once I managed to get it out I found something from a brand I had never heard of. This was Ole Hendriksen – Truth Sugar glow polishing mask in jar that held 15 mls. The full sized product comes in the same jar but bigger and holds 100 ml and costs around £30.
I think this is a polishing mask for the face but may be wrong. It has lost of lovely natural ingredients including, Raw Sugar for polishing,Pomegranate seeds to deeply cleanse and exfoliate ,Honey which is a natural humectant and soothes the skin,Rosehips full of Vitamins A and C & omegas 3,6 and finally Pumpkin extract with natural enzymes which exfoliate dull skin and help to smooth skin’s texture.
It looks the colour of honey and is a similar consistency but it smells fruity and fresh. It feels really gentle on my skin and after using it my skin felt smooth, looked more alive and felt clean and fresh.

************************************************

On the Sixth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……

Day six door was hiding a Balance Me Instant Lift Pore Minimiser in a small 5 ml tube which sells for £10. The full sized version holds 15 ml and costs £22.6

This is a 99% natural product that is a kind of primer which minimises pores and smooths fine lines so giving you a smoother pallet to apply your make up on to. It also boosts the skin’s collagen givinga plumper smoother look.

You can use this alone or use it before applying your make up. It doesn’t fill pores but the Acacia Gum helps to plump and tighten the skin and blur enlarged pores. The Acemlla Oleracea Extract relaxes muscle contractions so helping to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles . The Hyaluronic Acid instantly smooths and plumps for a smoother skin surface.

I found this really did give my skin a smother look and made my make up last better and stopped it going into the pores and fine lines on my face.

************************************************

On the Seventh Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

7Behind door number seven was a golden coloured box with a glass screw top jar inside. This was a jar of Nuxe “Reve de miel” lip balm with 15 g of this honey coloured rich fruity scented balm. This is the full sized product and usually costs around £9.50.

I love this balm as it feels rich and healing on my lips. It doesn’t slip off after a short time so is perfect for when out and about in cold weather to keep your lips from the cold.

When you apply it to your lips you get a slight tingle and really feels like it is feeding my lips and returning them to smooth chap free state. I love this and will certainly be buying this again.

************************************************

On the Eighth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

Moving on to door eight I found an golden coloured eye shadow which is perfect for Christmas social events. This is a Laura Mercer eye shadow and the official name for the eye shadow shade I have is “Gilded Honey”. I see on the House of Fraser site these eye 8shadows cost £21 so this is a great little gift.

I found that this eye shadow goes on best with a brush and gives a lovely sheen to the part of my eyes just under my eye brows while I wear a darker colour closer to my eye lashes.

The colour lasted well and didn’t go into the creases of my eyes at all so I was very happy with this door’s prize.

************************************************

On the Ninth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

9Behind door nine was full sized Rimmel lipstick in a beautiful deep red colour. The shade is number 510 and is called “The Best of the Best” .These sell on Boots for £6.99 and it is a current shade too.

I love the slanted or pointed end as it allows me to get a nice finish. The colour lasts well on my lips and it feels nice and soft and smooth, leaving my lips looking healthy, well coloured but it doesn’t feel gloopy or sticky at all.
This is a perfect colour for Christmas and gives a good strong colour, not subtle at all.

************************************************

On the Tenth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

10This was not the best door for me as this opened to give me a couple of hair ties. My hair is short so despite the fact that these were seasonal colours of red and white I won’t get any use from these.

I think my granddaughter will be befitting from these Popbands. They are soft and stretchy and hold your hair but don’t leave it with kinks.

************************************************

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

11Behind door eleven was a Bourgois eye shadow in a very similar shade to the Laura Mercer one except this one is more glittery than that one. This once again is a full sized product and the shade is “Originale” 03 which once again is a great shade for parties so perfect for this time of year but just a shame it s so similar to the Laura Mercer one.

On Boots these little pots of Bourgois eye shadows sell for £5.99. thy are beautifully packed with a silver knob on the front which you use to lift the lid which closes with a magnet nice and securely.

Again this goes on easily using a brush and I find that if I layer this over another colour I get a nice glittery finish over the colour blending to just using this under my eyebrows.

************************************************

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………

My final treat hidden behind door twelve was a tube of Pur correcting Primer in a 10 ml tube. I can only find this on a US site and find that a tube holding 30 ml costs $33 so it is not a cheap one.12

I love this as it has a great radiance to it and apply this onto my cleansed , moisturised face and think it looks great alone with no foundation. I have taken to using his mixed with my BB cream so that I get the full benefit from the lovely sheen in this.

This product is coloured and blends with most skin colours and it is a light texture so feels as though you are wearing nothing. It has a nice, pleasantly subtle clean sort of smell.

So there you have my Twelve Days of Christmas Advent calendar which I have thoroughly enjoyed. It was such fun to have a littl treat each day and I have found myself some great new products that I will be buying again when these finish.

Weleda Evening Primrose Body Lotion

Standard

evening_primroseIt is now pretty well known that evening primrose oil helps ladies cope with menopause symptoms better and that it is also an anti ageing ingredient as many other companies also use Evening Primrose oil in their products.

Weleda uses plants that balance the body’s needs. It is quite complicated to explain but basically we are like upside down plants so roots tend to aid the head and issues there while flowers and stems and leaves assist other parts of the body. It is more complex than that but suffice to say you don’t need to understand the theory completely to make use of the products and get the benefits from them.

Weleda explain all the benefits very well on their website and put this very well so I will quote them.box

Evening Primrose grows on dry rough soil and flowers at night into the dawn “In her growth and blossoming, the evening primrose connects the old day with the new.”

Native Americans use it as a nutritional and medicinal plant as a tea, in hot water and to heal wounds, skin problems and other ailments.

“The oil from evening primrose seeds contains high concentrations of essential linoleic acid and y-linolenic acid, which our body produces for itself less and less with increasing age. Both fatty acids play a considerable role in the epidermis and are absolutely essential for formation of the skin barrier. Evening primrose seed oil protects the skin against moisture loss, removes rough patches and promotes cell growth and regeneration.”

Evening primrose works with women going through menopause by offering “ mature skin, which can tend to dryness, substances and impulses which stimulate the metabolism and support the development of unique, individual radiance.”bottle

I do love the Evening primrose range as it smells so beautiful.

This comes in a recyclable plastic bottle and is the same deep purple colour on the label as all the range of Evening primrose products.

It costs £21.95 for 200 ml so it isn’t the cheapest body lotion around but it does compare favourably with other all natural body lotions I have bought.

The actual body lotion is a white coloured lotion, not too thick, a bit like pouring cream consistency but I find that a little does go a long way as it spreads easily and is very quickly absorbed into my skin and instantly I feels smoother and softer to touch.

Once my skin has absorbed the lotion it not only feels soft and smooth to touch but also feels
comfortable and nourished . I have very sensitive skin prone to allergies, itches and rashes and this has never caused it to become irritated and has in fact calmed it when feeling dry and itchy.img_6965

It smells gorgeous, so good that Weleda have in fact made it into an EDT. It is fresh and floral but not in any cloying or heavy. The scent stays on my skin for hours and I often find myself sniffing my arms to enjoy the scent during the day. I am not sure that Evening primrose has a scent but I think that the scent comes from the precious fragrance of cardamom, magnolia and sandalwood. All of which I love an I always know I will like a perfume that has those aromas in them. Cardamon has to be one of the most evocative scents I think.

The Evening primrose oil has been blended with the really moisturising shea butter and olive oil. There are no parabens or sulfates in this it is 100% natural and vegan friendly too.

I was advised to give the bottle a good shake before each use as the contents settle a bit. I always apply my body lotion after my evening bath. This is my little luxury as I use my own home made bath salts or just essential oils and have a lovely relaxing soak before I get dry and apply my lotions and potions. My husband kindly applies my lotion to my back as my skin gets very dry and then I do the rest while he enjoys his bath.img_6966

This lotion not only really soaks in and nourishes my skin but also the scent makes the whole bedroom and my bed smell lovely too and I slip off to sleep beautifully relaxed, smelling great and y skin is moisturised and the lotion works its wonders overnight.

I can’t say I look years younger but my skin isn’t bad for my age and it feels lovely and soft and looks healthy and not crepey and wrinkled or soft an saggy.

I am very happy with this lotion and think this is my favourite of the body lotions but as they are all lovely it is hard to choose.
