Dr. Botanicals Ultra Repair Overnight Regenerating Treatment

untitled_design_66_

I have recently applied to be a product tester for Dr Botanicals and I get to get the product free and have to pay postage only. I then use and review a few products from this brand and this is one I have been using for around two weeks now.

~~~~~~~~ ABOUT DR BOTANICALS ~~~~~~~
Dr Botanicals is London based vegan skincare brand. They use no animal products at all and believe that oils, plants and natural ingredients make effective skin care and that there is no need to add any chemicals.
The company was founded by Richard Walker in 2012 . He started with just a small range of Vegan products and was inspired by his father who first formulated Elderflower based skincare in the 1960’s.
Needless to say none of their products or ingredients have ever been tested on animals. They also use recyclable packaging for their products.
IMG_4674
~~~~~~~ WHAT THIS PRODUCT PROMISES ~~~~~~

“Our Ultra-Repair Overnight Regenerating Treatment is designed to iron out fine lines and wrinkles overnight leaving skin positively glowing by morning. Our blend of natural extracts provide nutrients for the skin to maintain good skin health for a more radiant complexion.”

~~~~~~ MY EXPERIENCE AND VIEWS ~~~~~~
I like the way Dr Botanicals products are packed as they come in classy looking old fashioned cardboard boxes. The brand name is in black text with its logo of a leaf. It looks minimalist but expensive. Each order comes with a card saying thank you for the order and explaining that they are the world’s Number 1 vegan skincare brand and use environmentally conscious packing.
This moisturiser is a night treatment with some great active ingredients which I will go into a bit later. The product comes in a glass jar with a screw top lid which is not only all recyclable but keeps the contents in good condition. I also kept mine in its original cardboard box to keep out any light which might damage the contents.
The disadvantage of the jar is that you have to use your fingers to get the product out each time so make sure you keep your fingers clean before putting them in the jar. You could of course use a small spoon or spatula to get the amount out that you need but I couldn’t be bothered to do that each time.
The actual contents are a cloudy dull creamy colour and the cream is very light feeling and not at all heavy and greasy which most night treatments are.
I apply this at night after I have cleansed and toned my face. I first apply my serum then after that has been absorbed I apply this product. It isn’t cream, it is a cross between a cream and a gel in txture and very light . It feels cool and fresh when I apply it and it soaks into my skin very quickly, so quickly that I almost feel that it should be richer and more greasy and in fact do tend to apply some facial oil after this has soaked in.
Dr BotaIMG_4675nicals tell you to: “Use the first two fingers of each hand, spread the moisturizer upwards and outwards from each dab on your face. Use a swirling motion to blend the moisturizer into your skin. It’s usually easiest to start at your neck, and work your way up your face to your forehead.”
I use this method religiously each morning and night when applying all my face products as that way you are defying gravity and encouraging your skin not to sag downwards. If you drag the skin downwards when applying any products then you are helping the downwards sag!
The ingredients that are the most active in this product are :
Carrot cell which is not only rich in mineral salts but also has plenty of Vitamin A and this helps to repair and rejuvenate the skin in the night.
It also has Olive Oil which is full of essential fatty acids and this help to restore and maintain a strong barrier for the skin against damage and distress.
Avocado Peptides in this cream help to encourage firmness and plumping while also helping to restore moisture in the skin.
IMG_4678
Obviously Dr Botanicals suggest that this works best in combination with their other products such as their cleanser, toner and so on but all my main skin care products are natural so I don’t have any worries about mixing this and my own other skin care products.
I have said that this feels very light and it also has a lovely delicate natural citrus sort of aroma which is not at all over powering but pleasant and refreshing and quickly disappears after the product has been absorbed into my skin.
This product is safe for most skin types including those with sensitive skin as it has no nasty ingredients in it at all. It is designed for normal skin but I have ageing , combination skin and find it is very pleasant to use though maybe a bit light hence applying facial oil after it has been absorbed.
IMG_4676
I can’t say my skin looks any better or worse that it usually does but I always use high quality natural skin products so I never rally expect any dramatic difference and I am just hoping that I can maintain my skin as it is and stop it looking too old any faster.
I think that this is a high quality product that feels nice on my skin but maybe as I am in the older age group I need something a bit more moisturising and this is why I use my evening primrose facial oil on top of this at night.
~~~~~~~ WHERE TO BUY AND PRICE ~~~~~

You can buy this direct from the DR Botanicals website and many of Dr Botanical products are also available on amazon and some other natural beauty sites. On Dr Botanicals it sells for £54.90 usually but is reduced to £25.90 at present but they charge around £5.99 for postage which I think is steep.

On amazon it is selling for £37.99 and if you are a prime member postage is free and in fact it will be free anyway as it is priced above the minimum for free postage.

IMG_4677

~~~~~~~ RECOMMENDED ? ~~~~~~~~
I got mine for the price of postage but I can’t say I would pay the full price for this as it is very expensive. It is reduced at present but with postage still costs a fair bit more than I want to pay. I am a bit spoiled as I do get a number of products at greatly reduced prices in return for my reviews so I have not paid full price for any skin care for a few years now so I find it hard to pay full price.
I feel it is probably a justifiable price for a truly vegan and effective skin product as fully natural products are always more expensive .
WHISH LAVENDER BODY BUTTER
Standard
body_butter_lavender01
This is one of three Whish body butter mini tubes I have received in one of my beauty boxes during the last year or so. I have stopped all my subscriptions as I have so many products to use and feel I should reduce my stash before treating myself to yet more.
~*~*~*~* ABOUT WHISH ~*~*~*~*~
I knew absolutely nothing about Whish before I got these little tubes and had never seen them anywhere in shops or on line. They are an America company with good ethics it seems
Jesse Werner had very sensitive skin that came out in a rash from all products he tried so he set about trying to find one that would not cause this problem. One day he came across a rich European cream free of harsh chemicals that worked for him. His wife used it one day and loved how it felt but was less keen on the smell. Jesse then set about trying to find one for her.
He began to research this issue and found that most bath and beauty products sold were full of chemicals. He decided to make his own and from this beginning Whish as born.
th (1)~*~*~*~*~ ETHICS AND MORALS ~*~*~*~*~
They do not test on animal and they use all natural ingredients with no added sulphates, parabens, DEA, TEA, petrochemcals or phthalates and all the testing is done on willing human volunteers. Their packing and ingredients are earth friendly, many ingredients organic and they are leaping bunny certified.
~*~*~*~*~ ABOUT THIS BODY BUTTER ~*~*~*~*~
This body butter comes in a cylindrical container in the full sized version which holds 150 ml. My tube is a small upside down one which means the lid is at the end the contents are squeezed out from. My tube held 22 ml and is the same pretty lilac o lavender colour as the full size container.
This body butter is part of the Three Whishes collection of body butters which include these varieties:
As well as the lavender butter that I have sampled, this butter is available in the following scents/fragrances:
Pomegranate, Lemongrass, Almond, Coconut and Blueberry. They also have limited edition fragrances which include Acai and grapefruit, Blue Agave and Perfectly Plain but there may be others a different times.
~*~*~*~*~ WHAT WHISH SAY ~*~*~*~*~*~
“ For amazingly moisturized skin, we’ve created a truly indulgent body cream with a unique triple antioxidant based formula. This fully loaded lotion both softens and soothes the skin while also helping to replenish and firm. Such sweet softness.”
~*~*~*~*~ WHAT IS IN THIS BODY BUTTER ? ~*~*~*~*~*~IMG_2910[1]
All the Three Whishes body butters contain Organic Aloe, Organic Raspberry Butter, and Organic Shea Butter. They are great for repairing and rejuvenating antioxidant ingredients.
The ingredients that moisturise in this are :
Organic Aloe: which is a gentle and soothing, natural antiseptic with anti-bacterial properties, anti-inflammatory, and moisturising properties.
Organic Shea Butter which is a wonderful natural moisturiser with a high content of non-saponifiable fats which are by far the best natural skin moisturisers. It is also high in anti-oxidants.
Organic Raspberry Butter which is high in anti-oxidants which attack free radicals and is also a good moisturiser.
As well as these lovely natural moisturising ingredients this also has Organic Rice Bran Oil which is very high in tocotrienols; a super anti-oxidant that they believe is 30 times more powerful than vitamin E. Some studies have been said to show help for skin cancer and improve sun screen efficiency.
Finally this also has a great firming ingredient Organic Seaweed Extract: which is full of firming peptides and anti-oxidants.
IMG_2911[1]~*~*~*~*~ WHERE TO BUY AND HOW MUCH ? ~*~*~*~**~
As I said mine came in beauty boxes so I had to do a little hunting around. From Amazon the full sized product can be bought for £13.70 which seems good value until you add the £6.12 delivery price. Birch box have got some Whish products but not this one but the lemongrass and pomegranate ones are £8.35 plus postage while th almond on s £1670 also plus postage. The Whish site is American so prices are in US$ and the body butters are all $18 but postage will be high coming from the States.
~*~*~*~*~*~ MY VIEWS ~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I did love the smell of this it was sweetly lavender rather than herby lavender but not in any sickly or ‘old lady’ way at all. It is a pleasant calming fragrance and one I loved to apply after my evening bath and it soaked into my skin easily and left it smelling great.
I found the body butter no where as thick as a Body Shop butter, more like a rich lotion in texture. Because it is all natural it kind of melts into your skin and really soaks in leaving my skin feeling well nourished and yet not feeling sticky, greasy or slippery at all.
I have very sensitive skin so have to be careful what I apply and this has not caused me any itchiness at all nor did I develop any rashes as sometimes happens.th
I found this was very effective even on my dry skin areas such as my knees and elbows as well as making my skin on my legs look less dry and parched.
I like this body butter but would I pay £13.70 plus £6.12 for it? The answer is no as I can get other nice natural body lotions that are equally good for less. I might be tempted with the Birchbox price though!
My FeelUnique 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar
Standard
advent-calendarFeelunique Magic of Beauty Calendar
I was lucky enough to win this wonderful 12 Days of Christmas Advent calendar from Beautyontrial and thought I would share my experience with you.
1On the First Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me …..
Today my door number 1 opened to reveal 50 ml Roger & Gallet shower cream in a fleur de figuier scent.
This is a lovely sweet fruity smelling creamy shower product. It is a white colour creamy texture that dos lather up when applied with a bath sponge or scrubby thing. My skin smelled fresh and the scent did linger subtly on my skin after drying. My skin feels soft, clean and not at all tight or dried out.
This is a sulfate and soap free product that has shea butter to moisturise the skin as well. All their products are made with up to 95% natural ingredients and 100% distilled precious essences with beneficial properties.
************************************************
On the Second Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me …….
Day two door presented me with a Decleor Hydra Floral medium multi protection BB cream with SPF 15. The tube holds 10 ml but a full sized tube is 40 ml and costs around £20 so this is good amount to try it out.
Luckily the colour matched my skin tone perfectly and gave a good balance coverage. I applied this after cleansing, toning and moisturising and it spread easily and stayed put all day long after I applied a little loose powder.2
It smells gorgeous, sweetly floral and makes my skin smell lovely. I can smell it for a while on my face but after a short time it does fade. I like the coverage and also like the fact you get sun protection of SPF15 which all helps to keep those damaging rays away.
It has five benefits: 1. Moisturises skin for 24 hours, 2. Illuminates and evens out the complexion
3. Refines the skin’s texture and corrects blemishes, 4. Contains SPF15 to protect against UVA/UVB rays and 5. Protects against pollution and environmental factors .
************************************************
On the Third Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
Door three’s offering was a 50 ml Coconut Oil Body lotion from Palmer’s. This has no 3sulfates, phthalates mineral oils, gluten, parabens or dyes.
This is a lovely creamy coconut smelling body lotion that makes my skin feels lovely soft, smooth and well misturised. It says it keeps skin moisturised for 24 hours and I would say that is true as my legs still look moisturised and feel soft the next day after I have applied this in the evening after my bath.
************************************************
On the Fourth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……
Behind door four was a hair product from Percy & Reed. This was a tube holding 30 ml of Perfecting Wonder balm which is a lovely leave in balm, conditioner that helps to make your hair style more easily , smooth it and also condition it. The full sized product holds 75 ml and costs £18.
4The product looks a bit cloudy but colourless like some face serums but it is the consistency of a lotion. It smells lovely fresh and sightly floral so make my hair smell nice too.
It is not sticky or tacky at all and my hair combs through still and it does feel as though there is only conditioner in my hair and not heavy at all. According to the company it will add moisture, shine, smoothness, definition, softness, light hold, high humidity protection and manageability to your hair and I am certainly happy with mine.
************************************************
On the Fifth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……
5Opening door five and I saw a neat little glass jar with screw top lid. This was tricky to get out and once I managed to get it out I found something from a brand I had never heard of. This was Ole Hendriksen – Truth Sugar glow polishing mask in jar that held 15 mls. The full sized product comes in the same jar but bigger and holds 100 ml and costs around £30.
I think this is a polishing mask for the face but may be wrong. It has lost of lovely natural ingredients including, Raw Sugar for polishing,Pomegranate seeds to deeply cleanse and exfoliate ,Honey which is a natural humectant and soothes the skin,Rosehips full of Vitamins A and C & omegas 3,6 and finally Pumpkin extract with natural enzymes which exfoliate dull skin and help to smooth skin’s texture.
It looks the colour of honey and is a similar consistency but it smells fruity and fresh. It feels really gentle on my skin and after using it my skin felt smooth, looked more alive and felt clean and fresh.
************************************************
On the Sixth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ……
Day six door was hiding a Balance Me Instant Lift Pore Minimiser in a small 5 ml tube which sells for £10. The full sized version holds 15 ml and costs £22.6
This is a 99% natural product that is a kind of primer which minimises pores and smooths fine lines so giving you a smoother pallet to apply your make up on to. It also boosts the skin’s collagen givinga plumper smoother look.
You can use this alone or use it before applying your make up. It doesn’t fill pores but the Acacia Gum helps to plump and tighten the skin and blur enlarged pores. The Acemlla Oleracea Extract relaxes muscle contractions so helping to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles . The Hyaluronic Acid instantly smooths and plumps for a smoother skin surface.
I found this really did give my skin a smother look and made my make up last better and stopped it going into the pores and fine lines on my face.
************************************************
On the Seventh Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
7Behind door number seven was a golden coloured box with a glass screw top jar inside. This was a jar of Nuxe “Reve de miel” lip balm with 15 g of this honey coloured rich fruity scented balm. This is the full sized product and usually costs around £9.50.
I love this balm as it feels rich and healing on my lips. It doesn’t slip off after a short time so is perfect for when out and about in cold weather to keep your lips from the cold.
When you apply it to your lips you get a slight tingle and really feels like it is feeding my lips and returning them to smooth chap free state. I love this and will certainly be buying this again.
************************************************
On the Eighth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
Moving on to door eight I found an golden coloured eye shadow which is perfect for Christmas social events. This is a Laura Mercer eye shadow and the official name for the eye shadow shade I have is “Gilded Honey”. I see on the House of Fraser site these eye 8shadows cost £21 so this is a great little gift.
I found that this eye shadow goes on best with a brush and gives a lovely sheen to the part of my eyes just under my eye brows while I wear a darker colour closer to my eye lashes.
The colour lasted well and didn’t go into the creases of my eyes at all so I was very happy with this door’s prize.
************************************************
On the Ninth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
9Behind door nine was full sized Rimmel lipstick in a beautiful deep red colour. The shade is number 510 and is called “The Best of the Best” .These sell on Boots for £6.99 and it is a current shade too.
I love the slanted or pointed end as it allows me to get a nice finish. The colour lasts well on my lips and it feels nice and soft and smooth, leaving my lips looking healthy, well coloured but it doesn’t feel gloopy or sticky at all.
This is a perfect colour for Christmas and gives a good strong colour, not subtle at all.
************************************************
On the Tenth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
10This was not the best door for me as this opened to give me a couple of hair ties. My hair is short so despite the fact that these were seasonal colours of red and white I won’t get any use from these.
I think my granddaughter will be befitting from these Popbands. They are soft and stretchy and hold your hair but don’t leave it with kinks.
************************************************
On the Eleventh Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
11Behind door eleven was a Bourgois eye shadow in a very similar shade to the Laura Mercer one except this one is more glittery than that one. This once again is a full sized product and the shade is “Originale” 03 which once again is a great shade for parties so perfect for this time of year but just a shame it s so similar to the Laura Mercer one.
On Boots these little pots of Bourgois eye shadows sell for £5.99. thy are beautifully packed with a silver knob on the front which you use to lift the lid which closes with a magnet nice and securely.
Again this goes on easily using a brush and I find that if I layer this over another colour I get a nice glittery finish over the colour blending to just using this under my eyebrows.
************************************************
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas my calendar gave to me ………
My final treat hidden behind door twelve was a tube of Pur correcting Primer in a 10 ml tube. I can only find this on a US site and find that a tube holding 30 ml costs $33 so it is not a cheap one.12
I love this as it has a great radiance to it and apply this onto my cleansed , moisturised face and think it looks great alone with no foundation. I have taken to using his mixed with my BB cream so that I get the full benefit from the lovely sheen in this.
This product is coloured and blends with most skin colours and it is a light texture so feels as though you are wearing nothing. It has a nice, pleasantly subtle clean sort of smell.
So there you have my Twelve Days of Christmas Advent calendar which I have thoroughly enjoyed. It was such fun to have a littl treat each day and I have found myself some great new products that I will be buying again when these finish.
I cannot in all honesty say my skin looks better or worse as I always use high quality face products that are natural so do not expect any miraculous change. I have had no adverse reaction while using this and am happy with how it works on my face.
I bought mine from amazon and the full retail price on there is £19.95 but I was lucky an got a huge discount in return for my honest feedback.
My Rather belated June Birchbox
Standard
DSCF3030
June BirchBox unpacked
This Birchbox was created for a holiday feel and also to celebrate the World Cup Football in Brazil at the time.
The box was not the usual brown box but was very pretty . I still have this one on my dressing table. the inner bag was also in Brazil’s colours and not the usual cream coloured draw string bag.
The first thing I found was the Brazil coloured flip flop or thong ( for those from Australia) key ring. I put this on my key ring and it gets lots of interest from my grandchildren.
My Birchbox flip flop key ring
What did I dig out next?  This cute little lip and cheek tint from ‘How ‘Bout them Apples’. I have had one of these before and in the same colour which was a shame as a different colour would have been nice. I carry the first one in my hand bag as it is a great moisturising lip tint and such a cut neat package too.
How ‘Bout Them Apples’ lip and cheek tint
The next item I really love. It is a body lotion from Korres. I have had one of their lip balms before but this is the first of their body lotions .It had a lovely natural lemon citrus aroma and left my skin feeling well moisturised and smelling great.
Korres Citrus Body milk
The Caudalie broad spectrum SPF day moisturising cream was next to come out. I do quite like Caudalie products but would never buy them as they are so expensive and not any better than other more honest brands. Caudalie claim that they do not test on animals yet they are selling their products in China and hence they are tested on animals before sale there. that is dishonest in my view.
Caudalie day moituriser with SPF
The make up foundation applicator sponge was next and so far I have not tried that as I usually use my fingers to apply my moisturizer and foundation products. I must give it a try. Personally i would have preferred another product rather than this.
Applicator sponge
Finally I love the Opi nail varnish and have used it several times already. It is good quality and gives a finish that lasts a few days before looking like it needs doing again. I love the colour and find that I like it best on my toes and there it lasts for a couple of weeks.
My green Opi nail varnish
So there you have my June Birch box and I will try and get a move on with some more posts as i am so far behind.
My May Birch Box explored
Standard
My Birchbox was a gift from my daughter for Christmas which I loved as I had gifts arriving for three months.
This was actually my second box so I will go back to April after this one. A bit backwards I know but never mind.
Firstly this was not just the usual pale brown coloured box. this was a beautiful flowery colourful box which was really exciting to unpack and start to use.
Lovely Birch Box
There were quite a few bigger or even full sized products in this box too which was great.
The first full sized product was the Imeeden tablets which were vitamin pills for beautiful skin. I must dig them out as I put them away when we went away for sometime. You need to take them on a full stomach and they don’t taste that great so a glass of water is needed to get it down.
I was pretty thrilled to find a smallish mascara from Benefit. I have bought this They’re real mascara before and like it so i was happy to have this even though it is a smaller size than you might buy in the shops. It will be handy for when we go away as any smaller items are always a bonus.
Next comes a pretty decent sized dry shampoo called ‘one More Day’ by Philip Kingsley. I don’t need dry shampoos as my hair is never greasy but I have tried this and because it smells so nice I have used it some days just to freshen my hair and make it smell nice.
Another pretty good sized sample was the Laura Mercier face polish. this is a lovely gentle yet effective face cleanser and exfoliator. I love this, not too gritty yet it has enough micro bits to actually feel like it is getting rid of the rubbish in the pores and dead skin.
This Aromatherapy bath and shower oil is fantastic but I wish this had been bigger. It smells divine and makes my skin feel lovely and I emerge smelling wonderful. A bigger sample would have been great.
DSCF2039
Finally a gorgeous little box that opened like a piece of jewellery would be inside and i wasn’t sure what I would find inside, It was a small bottle of a deep red nail varnish from Soigne. It is a good strong colour and looked great on my toes last week. i am not sure that the posh packaging was entirely necessary though.
So there you are a great little box of exciting things for me to try out and share with all on my blog.
